We at hp printer support center recommend you to use genuine HP cartridges. Now, what you are required to do is follow the sequence of given steps-

Step I- Check the ink level:

  • Go to printer’s control panel.
  • Touch the Dash icon given on the lower left corner.
  • Press the right arrow to enter the “Tools” option.
  • Press “OK”.
  • Click on “Display Estimated Ink Levels”.
  • Then press “OK”.

If ink level warning displays now, it is only for providing estimates for your planning purposes. You must replace cartridges only when the print quality becomes poor.

Step II- Clean the printhead using the automated tool:

  • Switch on the printer.
  • Go to control panel of your printer.
  • Touch the “Dash” icon provided on the lower left corner.
  • Touch the right arrow to enter “Tools” option.
  • Press “OK”.
  • Scroll to “Clean Printhead”.
  • Then, press “OK”.

Now the printer will begin the cleaning process. A page will be printed automatically to check if there is further need to clean the printhead.

If you are still not satisfied with the print quality, do clean the printhead several times by following the above-described step.

We at hp customer care recommend you to always turn off the printer using the “Power Button”.

Step III- Identify the defective cartridge & replace it:

  • Until you have the replacement available, just remove the useless cartridge & work on single cartridge mode.
  • Go to the printer’s control panel.
  • Touch “Dash” icon provided on the lower left corner.
  • Press “OK”.
  • Touch the right arrow to enter the “Tools” option.
  • Press “OK”.
  • Scroll to “Print Quality Report”.
  • Press “OK”.

Now, when the Quality Report prints, examine its print quality.
